Our story

We’re thrilled to introduce ourselves, the Hackett family, as the new owners of Manor Farm, Sheldon. Having lived in Nottingham for 26 years where we happily raised our children, it’s safe to say that our move to a sheep farm in the heart of the Peak District was a massive change for us. We’d always dreamt of moving to Derbyshire for its beautiful countryside, scenery and walking and it has definitely lived up to our expectations! Whilst we weren’t actively looking to move, this property instantly caught our eye, comprising of the Manor House, a range of old stone barns, two agricultural barns and 50 acres of land.

Our dream of moving to Derbyshire however, never involved animals or farming of any sort. Having never had anything to do with farming nor come from any kind of farming background, we suddenly had to learn a lot, quickly. Country file has a lot to answer for! We now have a small but growing flock of sheep, including 6 charming Southdowns which we have decided to keep as pets.

Our plans from the outset were to convert the courtyard of stone barns into luxury holiday accommodation that we could manage from our doorstep. Having been granted planning permission in November 2017, building work began in February and we hope this will be completed by the end of the year . We open for visitors on 8th April 2019.

We have a very busy 2018 ahead of us, but we can’t wait to give these barns a new lease of life and welcome visitors to join us here at our stunning rural retreat. If you would like to make a booking, please contact us - we’d be thrilled to hear from you.
